After winning 10 world titles in six divisions and capturing a gold medal in the 1992 Olympics, Oscar Dela Hoya has announced his official retirement.
“When I can't compete at my highest level, it's not fair—to me, (or) my fans,” he said in a press conference.
The “Golden Boy” has a career standing of 39-6 with 30 knockouts. He lost two of his last three matches against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
The 36-year old says that he will continue to work in the boxing industry as a full time manager. His company—Golden Boy Promotions—handles several boxers, including Shane Mosley, Bernard Hopkins, and Ricky Hatton.
