The New York Jets announced that they hired defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, last Monday—three weeks after they fired Eric Mangini after the Jets’ late-season collapse.
“We got the right man for the job,” commented Jets owner Woody Johnson said in a press statement.
The Jets waited for the Ravens’—former team of Rex Ryan—season to end, which happened last Sunday with a loss to Pittsburgh in the AFC final.
“It's been a dream of mine to become a head coach in the NFL,” Ryan said in a statement. While the Jets confirmed the signing of Ryan for a four-year deal, no other details were released.
