UFC’s heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will return to the octagon in July after undergoing intestinal surgery.

Lesnar, who was a decorated wrestler in college, is set to defend his heavyweight title against undefeated Shane Carwin, who knocked out Frank Mihr in his last match. 

The match is set for July 3.

Lesnar was diagnosed with diverticulitis last year, which was said to have been career-ending for the former WWE star. However, the 265-pounder says that he has recovered and wants to claim the interim title from Carwin.

“I can't wait to get back in the octagon and defend my UFC heavyweight title,” commented Lesnar. “July 3 can't come soon enough. I'm ready to fight. At UFC 116, Shane Carwin is going to face the real UFC heavyweight champion.”
