Kim Clijsters, the defending champion, ousted top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka to advance in the Australian Open quarters.

With her recent string of wins, Clijsters can still become the eighth female player to successfully defend the Australian Open title. With her elimination, Wozniacki will go down in the rankings, ending her long streak at the top of the rankings.

Clijsters, the 11th seeded competitor, will be matching up against Azarenka during the semis.

Azarenka ousted Agnes Radwanska to advance in the tournament.

Other quarterfinal matches include: Ekaterina Makarova against Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova versus Sara Errani.
