Top-seeded Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal both advanced in the US Open last Tuesday.

Djokovic advanced after Conor Nilan withdrew due to his illness. Djokovic was leading 6-0, 5-1 when the match was cancelled. He is now pursuing his third Grand Slam title for the year.

Nadal’s advancement came with much more difficulty. He defeated the upset-hungry Andrey Golubev 6-3, 7-6 (7-1), 7-5.

Other winners for the day included: David Ferrer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
