Manchester United FC captain Gary Neville has signed a one-year contract extension with the Premier League champions.

His signature guarantees that he will wear the Manchester uniform until June 2010.  Neville follows the recently signed contract of Ryan Giggs, who is also joining the club for one more year.

“Manchester United is the only club I have ever wanted to play for so I am delighted to have signed for another year,” Neville said in Manchester’s official Web site.

As of late, Neville has been hampered with a combination of injuries. Yet, he still remains to be a first team regular. This season, the 34-year-old has started in nine matches.

His skills will help the roster strengthen their bid for the quadruple of Premier League, Champions League, League Cup, and FA Cup. Manager Alex Ferguson feels that Neville’s experience will be crucial in the team’s performance in the tournaments.

“Gary, Ryan and Paul (Scholes) are the spirit of Manchester United and so we are delighted that Gary has signed for another year,” said Ferguson, who welcomed Neville back into the line-up.
