Japan will be matched up against the United States in the finals of the women’s World Cup after scoring the upset against Sweden, 3-1.

United States, on the other hand, defeated France to advance to the finals.

Japan, which also upset host Germany in the quarters, fell behind early against Sweden. Japan equalized the game before the first half ended with a score from Nahomi Kawasumi.

The Asians pushed hard in the second half and took the lead with a kick from Homare Sawa. And they never looked back.

The game was different for the Americans. US gained an early lead and supplanted their efforts in the 79th minute of the game behind Alex Morgan’s efforts.
