The Mexican National Team was dealt with a tremendous blow last Thursday as five of their members were removed from the roster after testing positive for banned substances.

The Mexican football federation blames the incident on food poisoning. According to Decio De Maria, the general secretary of the football-governing body, said that the players ate tainted meat.

“Unfortunately, by accident, these players ate beef contaminated with the substance clenbuterol,” said Hector Gonzalez, Femexfut’s director of national teams. “We're confident that with the investigation that is being carried out we'll be able to clarify (the situation) and reach a happy conclusion.”
