Operation galactico flush out continued at the Bernabeu stadium with Real Madrid confirming that Ronaldo will be transferred to Italian giant AC Milan for a sum of 7.5 million euros.

Ronaldo will be the second "superstar" to leave Madrid in less than a month after former England captain, David Beckham revealed that he will not be signing an extension to his contract and in fact will be joining MLS team LA Galaxy in the United States.

However Ronaldo's departure was given a snub by most of the leading newspapers in Spain. Sports daily Marca did not even report the news of the transfer while other newspapers devoted a small column. Spanish sports paper, AS was the only one to refer to Ronaldo's career at Madrid.

Says Alfredo Relano, the editor of the paper, "Madrid has impoverished its squad, the shining brilliance of the Galacticos has gone, but that is not the worst thing. The worst thing is that the galaxy has been killed off because of the indecisions and brutishness of Capello who hasn't lived up to expectations in any respect."

Announcing the deal to the media Milan club president, Adriano Galliani, revealed that Ronaldo has signed a contract until June 30 2008 and had cost the club 7.5 million euros. Galliani added that the transfer fee could be extended by another 500,000 euros if Milan is successful in qualifying for the Champions league during that period.

Speaking outside the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Ronaldo said that he was sad on leaving the club. "It is breaking my heart, but that is life. All I wanted to do at Madrid was to please the fans, the people who supported me, all my teammates and my managers", he added.
