Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has performed a U-turn by recalling Beckham into the team just a month after he revealed that the former England captain will never play for the team again. 

Beckham was told that he will never play for Real Madrid again after Beckham revealed that he will be moving to MLS club LA Galaxy in the summer in a multi-million deal. Capello had then questioned about Beckham's commitment to the club, saying that a player who is bound to leave the club soon enough would be unable to concentrate on the field.

However subsequent events including a scathing attack from the club president Ramon Calderon led to a number of senior players protesting against the treatment meted out to Beckham. Capello said that Beckham's attitude on the training ground has been very professional and that was the only reason for the recall.

"We had doubts after he signed such an important contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy that he could play and train with the same desire. This week he has taken part in training perfectly. He has always had the support of his team-mates, the only doubts we had were about his desire. He has behaved like a great professional and he returns to the squad", Capello said.

Real Madrid are struggling for form this season and have now lost two matches in a row and are 5 points behind league leaders Barcelona. Madrid were also knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Real Betis on goal difference and face Bayern Munich in their Champions League match.
