Beckham Given a Week To Decide Madrid Future E-mail

Real Madrid have told David Beckham to make up his mind on whether he intends to sign a new contract to extend his stay at the club.

The former England captain, whose current deal ends in June, has stalled on signing a two-year extension to his deal for several months. Beckham, who has started only seven of 25 matches this season, had said that he first wants to fight for a regular place in the side before he commits his future to the club.

Meanwhile Beckham’s agent, Simon Oliveira has last week said that Real Madrid's new contract offer was "slightly bigger" than his current one and the midfielder will take his time before signing the contract as this could be his last big contract of his career.

Speaking to radio station Cadena Ser, Real sports director Predrag Mijatovic said, "A few months ago we presented an offer to extend his contract that reflected his importance as a football player and as a marketing image. He asked for time to think about it, but we are in a situation where we don't have time. We have to decide now. Next week we will address the issue."

Beckham has been constantly linked with a move to host of clubs including Inter Milan and MLS club LA Galaxy. However he has clearly ruled out a move back to England though the clubs have not yet given up hopes of signing the player.
