Barcelona Ride High On Ronaldinho Tricks E-mail

European champions Barcelona smashed Mexican club America 4-0 to waltz into the final of the FIFA Club World Cup in search of their first ever World Club title.

Ronaldinho continued his excellent form and had a hand in three of the four goals scored. Barcelona opened the scoring with a delightful passing game. Ronaldinho started the move with a great back heel to Andres Iniesta who then released Eidur Gudjohnsen and the Icelandic international made no mistake in slotting the ball past goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

Barca doubled the lead with a thumping header from Mexican defender Rafael Marquez after his team had won a corner. Barcelona continued to apply pressure and were rewarded in the 65th minute when Ronaldinho slammed home a Ludovic Giuly's blocked shot from 12 meters.

The Brazilian ace could have had his second but unselfishly passed the ball to Deco who converted the goal 5 minutes from time. Barca coach Frank Rijkaard said that his team was not at its best and will improve in the final against Internacional.

"The players were absolutely shattered after the match. They're hurting still from the jetlag. They will play better in the final", Rijkaard said. After the match, America coach Luis Fernando Tena said that losing to Barcelona was not an embarrassment. "There is no shame in losing to Barcelona. They are better than any team in Mexico and one of the best teams in the world. They were fantastic", he said.

Meanwhile with the Champions League knockout round draw on Friday, most teams are praying that they will not face Barcelona. Says AC Milan chairman Adriano Galliani, "We played Barcelona last season and they have to be the most feared of the last 16, even if we also have a 20 per cent chance of playing Real Madrid."

The final of the Club World Cup title will take place on December 17 at the Yokohama stadium, which hosted the 2002 World Cup final.
