Witt leads Islanders past Oilers E-mail

Brendan Witt scored two goals in the second period to lift the New York Islanders past the Edmonton Oilers, 3-1.

Witt’s first goal was off an assist by Frans Nielsen. It gave the Islanders the lead with 2 minutes remaining in the period. Five minutes later, Witt scored again with the helper from Dog Weight and Jeff Tambellini.

John Tavares also scored a goal for the Islanders, who posted their fourth straight win.

The Oilers were led by Ethan Moreau. New York’s goaltender Dwayne Roloson had 22 saves, while his rival goal keeper, Nikolai Khaibibulin, had 34 saves.
