Michal Handzus scored 55 seconds into overtime last Thursday to help the Los Angeles Kings edge out the Dallas Stars, 5-4.
Los Angeles had a three-goal lead early on, but the Stars fought back behind James Neal’s second goal with a little under three minutes remaining in regulation.
Handzus, however, foiled the Stars’ hope for any come back with a slap shot goal that gave the Kings their second straight win.
Anze Kopitar also helped Los Angeles with a hat trick. He scored two goals in the second period to give Los Angeles a commanding 4-1 lead.
Jonathan Quick blocked 18 shots for Los Angeles, while the Star’s Alex Auld allowed five goals in 31 shots.
