Team Canada is back on track at the Olympics after thumping Germany 8-2 in a playoff to see who advances to the quarter-finals.

Next up for Canada is the Russians. Jarome Iginla scored twice for Canada. Joe Thornton, Sidney Crosby, Mike Richards, Scott Niedermayer, Rick Nash and Shea Weber added singles.

Weber's goal needed to be confirmed by video review in the second period after the puck went directly through the mesh at the back of the net.

Eric Staal, playing on the top line with Crosby and Iginla, had three assists.

Marcel Goc and Manuel Klinge replied for Germany.

Roberto Luongo started in goal, replacing Martin Brodeur after a shaky outing against the U.S.
