Saku Koivu scored in overtime last Friday to cap a comeback from the Anaheim Ducks, who won over the New York Islanders, 5-4.
The Ducks were trailing 4-2 as the game entered the third period. Jason Blake scored a goal to cut the lead to one, midway through the third quarter.
With 32 seconds left in regulation, Anaheim managed to tie the game behind a goal by Lubomir Visnovsky.
Afterwards, Koivu intercepted a pass by Bruno Gervais and managed to send in a wrist shot over Martin Biron for the game winner.
The win marks the Ducks’ third consecutive. However, the team is still seven points behind the last playoff slate in the Western Conference.
Jonas Miller allowed only three goals out of 17 shots, and was removed from the game during the second period. Curtis McElhinney came in and stopped 13 shots.
