Niklas Backstrom saved 32 of 33 shots on Monday to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Backstrom bounced back from a poor game against Calgary to prevent the Lightning from gaining the victory.

Tampa Bay jumped to a 1-0 lead, but Cal Clutterbuck tied the score off a turnover and Pierre-Marc Bouchard took the lead later on in the contest.

Mikko Koivu added an empty netter to give the Wild a bigger lead, pulling the team to a tie with Chicago atop the Western Conference standings.

For Tampa Bay, Steven Stamkos scored his 15th goal of the season, while Mathieu Garon made 21 saves.
