New York Rangers send Sean Avery to minor league |

The New York Rangers put Sean Avery in the minor leagues on Wednesday to clear waivers.
Avery will now play in the American Hockey League with New York’s affiliate, Connecticut.
The Rangers made the announcement during the team’s opening game on Friday in Stockholm.
Avery, a nine-year NHL veteran, racked up 81 goals, 157 assists, and 1,512 penalty minutes through his 565-game career. He played for Detroit, Los Angeles, Dallas, and New York.
New York also announced that Marc Staal has been placed on the injured reserve list.
