The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Glen Metropolit, who was waived by the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Flyers waived Metropolit in anticipation of Daniel Briere’s return to the ice. As a Canadiens forward, Metropolit scored four goals and passed 10 assists for a total of 14 points in 55 games.

“Glen is a seasoned veteran who played very well against us in last year's playoffs against the Bruins,” said Canadiens GM Bob Gainey. “We are very pleased to have him on our roster.”

Philadelphia acquired Metropolit this season for a two-year contract. Before signing with the Flyers, the veteran played for the Bruins, where he had 11 goals and 22 assists in 82 contests.

In 317 NHL games, Metropolit has had 39 goals and 88 assists, totaling to 127 points. Aside from Philadelphia and Boston, he has also played for Tampa Bay, Atlanta, St. Louis, and Washington.
