The win ended a three-game losing streak for Los Angeles.
Jonathan Quick gave away a goal to Jamie Benn with 2:42 left in the first period, but played perfectly the rest of the way. Benn had 29 saves in the game.
Smyth sent tipped in a shot from Dustin Brown five minutes into the second period, which tied the game. The succeeding goals of Los Angeles came from assists by Smyth.
