Doughty converts on power play to lead Los Angeles past Colorado E-mail

Drew Doughty scored a pivotal power play in overtime last Monday to lead the Los Angeles Kings beat Colorado Avalanche, 4-3.

The Kings were ahead 3-2 during the closing seconds of regulation. T.J. Galiardi forced an extra period with his 13th goal of the season assisted by Paul Stastny and Peter Mueller.

Ruslan Salei was called for cross-checking during overtime, and Doughty converted on the power play to secure the second straight win for Los Angeles. The Kings have 89 points and are currently tied for fifth place in the Western Conference.

With the loss, the Avalanche drop to seventh place in the conference 87 points.

Ryan Smyth had two goals, while Wayne Simmonds had one. Jonathan Quick took care of defensive duties with 18 saves.
