Jimmy Howard blocked 25 shots on Thursday as the Detroit Red Wings defeated Vancouver, 2-0.

The shutout was Howard’s sixth since he became Detroit’s goaltender.

The Red Wings, who improved their record to 3-0, scored with the help of Justin Abdelkader and Valtteri Filppula. 

For Vancouver, Cory Schneider made 35 saves. The team is off to a slow start—only winning one game in the last four contests.
