Detroit Lions running back Jerome Harrison has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, a health complication that voided his trade to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The tumor was discovered during routine physical, which is standard before any trade. The exchange was supposed to send Ronnie Brown to Detroit and a draft pick in 2013. However, the transaction was cancelled because of Harrison’s condition.

The team medical staffs in the NFL are known for being extremely thorough. However, Harrison’s condition would unlikely been discovered if the trade was not initiated.
