Rex Ryan, coach of the New York Jets, has issued an apology for heckling a fan in an incident that has been posted on YouTube.

According to reports, the National Football League is currently investigating the exchange between coach Ryan and the fan.

In the video, Ryan is heard shouting foul language to a fan. The incident occurred at halftime as the Jets were losing to the New England Patriots.

The fan, on the other hand, was shouting to the coach that “Belichick (head coach of the Patriots)is better than you.”

“It was an emotional time coming in,” Ryan said in a statement. “I obviously made a mistake. I was full of emotion and just popped off. Obviously I know I represent the National Football League. I know I represent the Jets. And I know it was a mistake. I apologize for it. This is who I am. I made a mistake. I'm about as big a competitor as there is.”
