Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger claims that his meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell went well last Tuesday in New York.

Roethlisberger met the commissioner to talk about his recent allegations of sexual assault in connection with a 20-year-old female college student. The Georgia authorities decided not to prosecute the professional football player.

After his meeting, Roethlisberger told reporters that it was a “very productive meeting.”

Separate reports claim that Goodell is considering disciplinary actions for Roethlisberger, but the commissioner refused to comment on the issue last Tuesday. The 6-foot-5 quarterback could also face sanctions from the Steelers.

“I understand that the opportunities I have been blessed with are a privilege and that much is expected of me as the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers,” explained Roethlisberger in a written press statement. “I absolutely want to be the leader this team deserves, valued in the community and a role model to kids. I have much work to do to earn this trust and I'm committed to improving and showing everyone my true values.”
