Chicago Bulls eliminate Atlanta Hawks E-mail
Written by Sports Know It Alls Staff

The Chicago Bulls advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals with a runaway victory over the upset-hungry Atlanta Hawks, 93-73.

“This is the biggest game of our life right here,” said Derrick Rose, the youngest MVP in NBA history. Chicago’s conference finals berth marks the first since Michael Jordan’s Bulls in 1998.

Now, the young team is faced with a bigger challenge: the Miami Heat.

Against Atlanta, the Bulls were led by Carlos Boozer, who scored 23 points and grabbed 10 boards. Rose handled the point guard duties, dishing out 12 assists and scoring 19 points. Rose and Boozer ran the pick-and-roll for most parts of the contest, and the Hawk defense offered little resistance.

On the defensive end, Chicago held Atlanta to a 36% scoring clip. The defense was anchored by Joakim Noah and Keith Bogans.

Wade and James lead Heat to game four win E-mail

The Boston Celtics’ game-three victory became short lived. The Miami Heat played game four like there was no tomorrow.  While there were spots of brilliance from the Eastern Conference Champions, they were never enough to gain full control of the game.

The Heat arsenal was led by LeBron James and Dwayne Wade, who had 35 and 28 points respectively. Down the stretch, younger legs prevailed over the veterans, resulting in a 98-90 overtime win for Miami.

The Heat is now one win away from clinching its first conference finals berth since 2006. It has now been confirmed: the trio of James, Wade, and Bosh is a force to be reckoned with. And, it’s just their first year in the league as teammates.

During the overtime period, the Celtics went scoreless in the final three minutes. On the other hand, the Heat trio combined for 12 points to secure the win.

“The team is going to go as us three take it,” said Wade in a post-game interview.

Paul Pierce top scored Boston with 27 points.

Mavericks go up 3-0 against the Lakers E-mail

The two-time defending champions are in a hole—one that hasn’t been climbed by the previous 98 NBA teams who tried.

Dirk Nowitzki powered the Dallas Mavericks to a 98-92 comeback win against the Los Angeles Lakers, putting the Mavs on a 3-0 advantage over LA.

The German scored 32 points with a buffet of mid-range and outside shots. He was helped by Jason Terry, with 23 points, and Peja Stojakovic, who scored 11 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter.

With a little over five minutes left, the Mavericks trailed the Lakers. Nowitzki then nailed a three-pointer and Stojakovic followed it with another, firing up an 18-6 rally for Dallas. And they never looked back.

The Lakers did not resemble their championship form. On several occasions, there were breakdowns on defense and they played (for lack of a better word) soft.

The next game will be at Dallas, making the possibility of a sweep seem like a certainty.
