Los Angeles Lakers topple Cleveland Cavaliers E-mail

Kobe Bryant scored 42 points on Friday to lead the Los Angeles Lakers over the Cleveland Cavaliers, 97-92.

The win is the Lakers’ fifth in a row.

Los Angeles controlled most of the contest, but the Cavaliers went on a 9-0 run in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter to pull within three points. Daniel Gibson missed a three pointer with less than seven minutes left in the period. From then on, the Lakers rebuilt their lead with a pair of three pointers.

Bryant has now scored at least 40 points in three of his last five games. His performances have put him on top of the league leaders for points.

With the win, the Lakers have improved its home record to 8-1. 

The Cavaliers were led by top pick Kyrie Irving, who scored 19 points.
