The Los Angeles Lakers said that team captain Kobe Bryant has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

The team said that the procedure was performed last week, and the 2010 Finals MVP is expected to recover by the start of training camp on September.

Bryant led the Lakers to its second consecutive title last June.
