Ben Gordon returned after missing 2 1/2 games with a sprained ankle. He came off the bench to score 18 points against his former team.
He shrugged off the boos that poured down from the stands every time he touched the ball. He expected them on his return to the United Center after leaving the Bulls and signing with the Pistons.
“It is what it is. It’s not like I won the championship while I was here or anything,” Gordon said
“I just had a couple of good years, so I wasn’t surprised at all. ... I expected that, seeing past players come back after going to another team.”
“I have already moved forward. This was just another game for me. It really wasn’t that big of a deal,” Gordon said. “I moved on a long time ago. I have no bitter feelings toward the Bulls. I did what I had to do. It’s just part of business.”
Rodney Stuckey scored 17 points for Detroit. Will Bynum and Kwame Brown each had 10 points.
The Pistons were still without Richard Hamilton (ankle), Tayshaun Prince (back) and Charlie Villanueva (nose).
Chicago shot 49% (33-for-68) from the field and held the Pistons to 38% (28-for-73) shooting.
Detroit missed its first six shots and trailed after one quarter, 24-10. The Pistons trimmed the lead to seven early in the second quarter, but at halftime, Chicago led, 48-38.
In the third, Jason Maxiell's layup cut it to 50-47 with 9:26 to go in the quarter, but the Bulls outscored Detroit, 24-10, to take a 17-point lead into the fourth.
With 1:22 to play, Deng's free throw made it 90-79. But the Pistons went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to five with 16 seconds left. Miller was then fouled, hit two free throws and put the game away.
