The Dallas Mavericks dealt Rudy Fernandez and Cory Brewer to Denver in exchange for a second-round draft pick.
Reports say that the move was a salary dump for the defending NBA champions. With the arrival of Vince Carter and Delonte West, the team became crowded in the guard position. This prompted management to let go of Fernandez.
“We are excited to add two talented young wing players who have proven themselves in the NBA,” commented Masai Ujiri, VP of basketball operations for the Denver Nuggets. “They add depth to our roster, something that helped us finish strong last season, and I'm confident they will fit well with coach (George) Karl's style of play.”
