China, Italy and Spain have entered their bids to host basketball’s World Championships, which will take place on 2014. The FIBA governing body will select the country host May next year.

Spain won the last World Championships, which were held in Japan. The 2010 edition of the games will most likely be held at Turkey.

“China are clearly favorite in terms of coming in with the experience,” commented Paul Baumann, secretary general of the ruling body. He also mentioned, “Spain is the reigning world champion and Olympic silver medalist. Italy has a strong history and passion for basketball.”

In addition to that, the government has pledged full support to stage the tournament in their respective countries.
