Tyler Colvin, the Chicago Cubs outfielder who was hit by a piece of broken bat last Sunday, was released from a Miami hospital.

After Sunday’s incident, Colvin was sent to the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. His chest was penetrated by a shard of broken bat during a game against the Florida Marlins at Sun Life Stadium.

The rookie was immediately treated to prevent his lungs from collapsing. Apparently, the bat piece allowed excess air to enter his chest, posing serious threats to his lungs.

Team representatives said that he will return home to South California and he is out for the rest of the season.
