Josh Hamilton and Vladimir Guerrero hit consecutive homers in the eighth inning last Thursday as the Texas Rangers won over the Kansas City Royals, 13-12.

Both teams combined for 26 hits in a game that saw the Royals overcome an 8-0 deficit to take a 12-11 lead during the top of the eighth behind an RBI single by Kila Ka'aihue.

Robinson Tejeda started on the mound for Kansas City at the bottom of the eighth and retired the first two batters. Joakim Soria substituted Tejeda and gave up two homers to Hamilton and Guerrero.

Scoring in five straight innings to start the fourth, Kansas City went down in order in the ninth against Neftali Feliz.

Feliz gave the victory for Frank Francisco, who gave the go-ahead run at the start of the ninth.

Justin Smoak scored a three-run homer to cap a six-run third inning. That gave the Rangers an 8-0, and it seemed that they were going to earn an easy win.

Kansas City rallied and tied the match at 9-9 after a five-run sixth inning, which included a three-run homer from Scott Podsednik.

Guerrero put the Rangers back on top during the bottom of the sixth with a two-run blast, and Kansas managed to tie the score in the seventh with a two-run hit from Alberto Callaspo.
