B.J. Upton hit a homer and added a run-scoring double last Monday to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Upton’s run set the tone for Tampa Bay, who is now tied with the New York Yankees at the top of the American League East.

Ben Zobrist also led a couple of runs in the first inning, while Upton’s RBI in the second gave the Rays a commanding 4-0 lead.

James Shield was on the mound, allowing only three runs in a span of six innings. In the final three innings, four relievers teamed up to keep the Angels scoreless.

Scott Kazmir took the loss for the Angels.
