Justin Smoak homered two in the sixth to lead the Seattle Mariners over Kansas City, 4-1.

The win marked Seattle’s only second win in eight games. The team was also backed by a four-run effort from Jason Vargas, who threw five shutout innings before the sixth inning.

Eric Hosmer tied it in the sixth with an RBI single. After that, Dusting Ackley drew a four-pitch walk to open the bottom of the sixth and Smoak sent in his homer.
