Tim Jackson scored a 2-under 68 last Monday to lead the qualifying round for the U.S. Amateur Championship.
The tournament was played in the Southern Hills Country Club, where Jackson raced to a one-shot lead midway through the 36-hole qualifier.
The top 36 players after Tuesday’s round will move on to the match play portion of the event. The final set will take place on Sunday.
The course has hosted the US Open and the PGA Championship on several occasions. Cedar Ridge Country Club—another famous golf course—is also being used for the qualifying round.
Although most of the contenders for the U.S. Amateur title are in their collegiate years, 50-year-old Jackson shared the lead after the first two rounds in this year’s US Senior Open.
He led by a shot over Matthew Broome, John Peterson, Will Strickler, and Cameron Tringale
